SALON
TRAINING & Competition Guideline Changes |
|
A
Little Buenos Aires Salon training continues throughout the month of
March at Manly and Marsfield studios. We are very pleased to see
students so motivated and progressing well. Dancers please note that
as you prepare for the Salon Competition's qualifying rounds, there
have been a couple of changes made to the competition guidelines.
Please see below:
1. The judging panel shall consider musicality
and walking styles as the main evaluation criteria for
qualification.
2. Couples must constantly move
counter-clockwise like in milongas (tango dance places) and must
avoid remaining in the same choreographic place in order to avoid
interrupting the dancers circulation.
* For more details
of guidelines and qualifying rounds in Sydney please visit http://www.tangochampionship.som.au/ |

TANGO CANYENGE FESTIVAL 5th - 8th March
2007
Canyengue is a sensual
and enjoyable style of tango, with playful gait and rhythm. Its main
characteristic is its musicality, as dancing Canyengue precisely
means to be in time, walking in the right musical tempo. Its
movements are syncopated, they correspond to a 4 by 8 measure
(played by orchestras such as Canaro, Felipe Antonio, Tubatango, De
caro, Tipica de victor) which, with the passing of time, became
today's 2 by 4 measure of tango. Canyengue uses body dissociation
for the indication, walking with firm ground contact, and a
permanent combination of on- and off-beat rhythm. All these elements
are essential to dance any good tango!
